Acton Academy West Austin is seeking a guide who is ready to change the world of education. Acton Academy West Austin will be starting it's fifth year in the fall of 2019 in the Westlake area. This is an opportunity to be an integral part of shaping the foundation of the future leaders of the world, and a part of the most innovative schools of the 21st century. Acton Academy West's school year is 11 months with frequent breaks throughout the year.

Position Description

Under the guidance of the head of school, our guides will oversee a class of up to 36 heroes, in grades first through fifth. They will be responsible for facilitating Socratic group discussions, mentoring individual students, and organizing quest projects. Though most of the curriculum will be set already, our guides will play a role in evaluating and refining the existing curriculum and designing and experimenting with new projects, tools, and approaches. Our guides will also maintain the classroom environment, document the class (student projects, achievements, and everyday activity), and compile student portfolios.


We are looking for someone with a deep curiosity about life, a lifelong love of learning, and an entrepreneurial spirit (must thrive in a startup environment). Candidates should have proven excellence in guiding children in or out of a school environment, and an evident passion for being on a hero's journey. We seek guides who loves to experiment, evaluate, and improve on everything they do. Candidates should have a deep respect for all children and empathy for the challenges children face in their lives. This is a position for an independent learner who can take direction and feedback but can also work with little direct guidance.
