Welcome to the Coding and Programming Quest! In this exciting and challenging quest, Acton Eagles are going to learn the ins and outs of coding and programming, and how to identify coding and programming in the world around them. How do NASA’s astronauts use coding in their jobs? Can robots talk? What is an ‘algorithm’? Do video games use loops? By the end of this quest, Eagles will be able to answer those questions.
In this five-week session, Eagles will start by learning the basics of coding; functions like algorithms, If/Then prompts, and loops, and how those apply to programming. Working in Pod teams, they will create coding-focused projects that show-off what they’ve been learning, such as robotics or video games.
For the exhibition, Eagles will introduce their coding-focused projects to parents and explain how they built their projects utilizing their coding and programming skills. Then they will challenge their parents to beat their own Eagle’s video games OR have their parents engage with LEGO robots.
